Godfried Opong Kesse
The Board of Directors takes note with deep regret at the demise of our company's first Managing Director, Mr. Godfried Opong Kesse, as a result of a road accident on August 3rd 2009.
Godfried Opong Kesse, the doyen of geology professionals in Ghana, appropriately went into the gold-mining business in the early Nineties, soon after his retirement as the Director of Geological Survey. After a series of trying moments in a difficult period in which he struggled with his Canadian partners to establish a gold mining company with a viable exploration program, he finally succeeded in April 2001 in registering with his associates the Goknet Mining Company Ltd, of which he was the Managing Director. This was to be a company which by dint of the force and strength of his personality as its Chief Executive, and also by his position and status as a traditional ruler, was able to assemble and forge together a large group of contiguous concessions covering an area of 500 sq kms and stretching over 70 kms along one of the major gold belts in Ghana, and which has now become the most viable package of properties on the Asankrangua gold Belt.
G O, as he is popularly and affectionately called by his colleagues, was a valued adviser to the management of PMI Gold Corporation, a Canadian public company, as well as all the related group of companies whose fortunes largely depend on the success of this foreign company, and his services and input would be greatly missed.
G O was a leader and friend held in great affection by his colleagues and employees. He is sorely missed. Our sincere condolences go out to his family.
