Acquisition Of New "Banket Gold" Prospect - Ghana

PMI Ventures Ltd. (the "Company") [TSX Venture: PMV], is pleased to announce that it has entered into an option agreement with Goknet Mining Company Ltd. of Accra, Ghana, ("Goknet") to acquire an interest in the 84 square kilometre OFOASE concession located on the Ashanti Gold Belt, 20 kilometres due west of Newmont's 7 million ounce Akyem gold project, and 45 kilometres northeast of Anglo Ashanti's 30 million ounce Obuasi Mine.

The concession is primarily underlain by: Tarkwaiian meta-sedimentary rocks including quartz pebble "Banket" type conglomerates, quartz (tourmaline, ilmenite, pyrite) sandstones and siltstones; Birimian meta-volcanics; and granite -- on the southern margin of the Banso batholith.

Previous regional work conducted by the Ghana Geological Survey outlined gold anomalies in silt samples from streams draining the concession area. In 1999, a further 33 stream sediment samples were taken. Fire assay results on the 2kg samples were reported to range from 0.019 to 16.074 g/t Au, with 20 samples assaying greater than 1.0 g/t Au...." {more}

Ashanti II Project Gemap Concession - IP Survey - Old Kukunapi Mine Area

PMI Ventures Ltd. (the "Company")[TSX Venture : PMV], is pleased to report that the IP (Induced Polarisation) survey on its Gemap concession, in the vicinity of the old Kukunapi mine, has identified several new and significant anomalies. The anomalies are of considerable interest as previous drill tests in their vicinity yielded strong gold mineralization in company drilling in 2003 and 2004 as well as in drill holes completed by Nevsun Resources in 1998. This section of the 14km long main survey grid is 3km wide and covers a distance from 500m south east of Kukunapi to over 1500m to the north east.

Two strong NE trending linear IP anomalies, each measuring in excess of two kilometres long and between 100m to 200m in width have been outlined. In the immediate vicinity of the Kukunapi showings (visible gold and sulfide mineralization in quartz from a NE trending series of old pits and shafts), the anomaly shifts to a strong EW orientation, parallel to the SRK confirmed auriferous D4/D5 cross structures and increasing quartz contents in drillholes. Additionally, a further large anomaly (approx. 800m by 400m) has also been identified near the northern contact of the Juabo granite, some 1200m north/north west of Kukunapi in an area with strong multi-element ICP geochemistry and elevated resistivities suggesting possible silicification...{more}

Ashanti II Project Update -- Diaso IP Survey -- Test Hole Results

PMI Ventures Ltd. (the "Company")[TSX Venture : PMV], is pleased to announce that 85% of the 210 line km IP (Induced Polarisation) survey commenced in July, has now been completed. The survey grid is 3 km wide and covers the area between the Juabo and Diaso intrusions -- a distance of over 14 km. The Company and SRK Consulting (Canada) Inc. identified 25 major structural targets in a recent project review, 11 of which are located within this survey grid, for detailed follow up.

The survey has outlined five strong NE and locally EW trending linear IP anomalies, each measuring from one to three kilometres long. One of these correlates with the previously reported Railway showing (8.75 g/t Au over 3.9 metres); another with the Old Kukunapi Mine area (visible gold and sulfide mineralization to 10.6 g/t Au over 2.25 metres); and a third occurs just west of the old Kumi Shaft galamsey workings (grab samples to 3 g/t Au)...{more}

Diamond Drill Program Underway

"The Company is pleased to announce that the next phase consisting of 4,000 metres of diamond drilling has commenced on our Ashanti II Gold Project, Asankrangwa Gold Belt, Ghana. The initial target is a very strong geophysical IP anomaly outlined in the L34N area of our Diaso concession. The primary target is a 1600 metre long section of the main Asankrangwa Shear Zone at its intersection with the Diaso granite and multiple cross structures. A secondary IP target is an associated 1200 metre long, north stepping, dilational 'break' in the granite. Five drill holes are planned to test these anomalies to depths of up to 200 metres. Initial results from the program are expected in two weeks..." {more}

Canadian Listed PMI Ventures Systematically Explores Ashanti II in Ghana

"For most junior companies mineral exploration is all about drilling results because those are what investors want. Unfortunately, rushing into drilling before adequate targets are defined has prematurely killed more than a few worthy projects. This fact was not lost on the late Arthur Fisher. Fisher is the man who was responsible for the discoveries of the Black Swan and Whistler mines in Australia and Casa Preta in Brazil, so his geological attributes are well documented. Back in 2003, the then Fisher led, Canadian listed PMI Ventures acquired control of a major property covering 380 sq kms of the Asankrangwa gold belt in southwest Ghana. This is prime gold hunting ground located between two other prolific gold belts – Ashanti and Sefwi (Bibiani). Historically more than 80 million ounces of gold have been found within a 60 km distance from the Asankrangwa belt..." {more}

Major Drill Targets Confirmed, Financing Update, Ashanti II Project, Ghana

"PMI Ventures Ltd. (the "Company") [TSX Venture: PMV], is pleased to announce that final data processing for the first 22 lines of the IP (induced polarisation) survey in the L34N area has now been completed, confirming major targets for follow up core drilling. Interpretation of the data suggests that the primary target is a 1600 metre long, carbonaceous shear zone with strong sulphide (pyrite?) mineralization. It occupies a dilational 'north step' in the main ASZ2 shear zone at the contact of the Birimian sediments with the Diaso granite and the east west trending "D4/D5" shears. A secondary drill target is an associated 1200 metre long, north stepping, dilational 'break' in the granite and is also interpreted to contain major quartz-sulphide stock work mineralization...." {more}

Strong IP Anomalies Extended, L34N Target, Ashantii II Project, Ghana

"PMI Ventures Ltd. (the "Company") [TSX Venture: PMV], is pleased to announce that the IP (induced polarisation) survey has now extended the two strong IP anomalies (announced on 25 July 2005), from 600 metres to 1200 metres and 1400 metres in length, respectively. These anomalies are generally linear, from 50 to over 200 metres in width and are interpreted to extend up to the depth limit of the survey at greater than 150 metres. At their intersection, the IP anomaly covers an area of at least 600 by 700 metres which is open to further expansion. The anomalies occur on the southwest margin of the Diaso granite in the L34N target area and are associated with regional scale deep seated shear zones along the western margin and on major fractures within the granite body, and also locally with extensive galamsey workings..." {more}

Strong IP Targets Outlined, Ashanti II Project, Ghana

"PMI Ventures Ltd. (the "Company") [TSX Venture: PMV], is pleased to announce that initial IP survey results from a 14 kilometre long by 3 kilometre wide grid covering eleven high priority gold target zones in the central part of our 400 square kilometre concession area, have outlined two strong IP anomalies. The anomalies, on the southwest margin of the Diaso granite in our L34N target area, are each over 600 metres in length and appear to have considerable depth extent. They are generally sub parallel, 500 to 700 metres apart and co-incident with marked resistivity lows, part of the major deep seated ASZ2 shear zone previously outlined by the airborne EM survey and SRK structural analysis. This is the same shear zone which is interpreted to host the Obotan gold deposit 24 kilometres to the northeast..." {more}
